Mission

The Nonprofit Infrastructure Capital Investment Program (NICIP) makes targeted investments in capital projects that improve the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of nonprofit human services organizations that provide direct services to New Yorkers. Targeted investments include renovations or expansions of existing space used for direct program services; modifications to provide for sustainable, efficient spaces that would result in overall energy and cost savings; accessibility renovations; and technology upgrades to improve electronic records, data analysis, and/or confidentiality.

Organization and Staffing

NICIP funds are awarded to grantees through an RFP process administered by the Dormitory Authority for the State of New York (DASNY).

Budget Highlights

The FY 2024 Executive Budget includes a reappropriation of $87.5 million for NICIP. To date, the program has distributed $83.5 million in grants to nonprofit organizations.

Program Highlights

In FY 2017, $100 million in grants were awarded through a competitive process to 237 nonprofit human services organizations across the State. In FY 2018, NICIP awarded an additional $20 million in grants to 32 nonprofit organizations. To date, 269 grants have been awarded with a total value of approximately $120 million. These capital projects will improve nonprofit organizations’ physical and technological infrastructure to allow them to better serve some of the most vulnerable New Yorkers.
