Mission
Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Federal government provided funding to support transportation rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts. Reappropriations will provide ongoing authorization for payments associated with the engineering and construction of State capital projects in lower Manhattan, including the reconstruction and improvement of Route 9A, and September 11th-related expenses.
Budget Highlights
The FY 2023 Executive Budget recommends the reappropriation of $146 million in capital funding for the Federal share of transportation projects related to the attack on the New York City World Trade Center. This reappropriation will facilitate the continuation of New York State’s efforts to revitalize the World Trade Center property and lower Manhattan.
