Mission
The Office of the State Inspector General's mission is to ensure that State government maintains the highest standards of integrity and accountability. The Office focuses on identifying, investigating, deterring and eliminating corruption, fraud, criminal activity, conflicts of interest, and abuse within the State entities under its jurisdiction. The Office’s jurisdiction includes more than 150 Executive Branch agencies, departments, divisions, offices, boards, commissions, public authorities and public benefit corporations and any entity of State government, headed by an appointee of the Governor, that does not have its own statutory Inspector General. In addition, local social service districts, State contractors and recipients of public assistance services come under the authority of the Office.
Budget Highlights
The Executive Budget recommends $8.1 million All Funds ($8 million in General Fund, $100,000 All Other Funds) for the Office, and reflects the transfer of the Office of Welfare Inspector General (OWIG) to the Agency.
The Executive Budget recommends a workforce of 72 FTEs. This is an increase of 4 FTEs over the 2012-13 budget and reflects the Office's broader responsibilities resulting from the transfer of the OWIG.
