The Office for Technology (OFT) current-year savings target is $2.5 million, reflecting the governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending. OFT has identified $3.1 million in savings to meet this target.
Major Savings Initiatives
The Office for Technology is already in the process of implementing the following actions to achieve their savings target:
Reducing the telecommunication rates charged to customer agencies for a savings of $2.3 million.
Managing attrition and limiting hiring to mission critical positions only, generating savings of $250,000.
Negotiating with vendors to reduce the cost of existing technology contracts and limiting the use of consultants.
Implementing strict management controls over supplies, travel, equipment and contractual service spending.
