The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) has a current-year savings target of $640,000, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending.
NYSCA is currently expected to achieve its entire $640,000 spending reduction target.
Major Savings Initiatives
NYSCA is already in the process of implementing the following actions to achieve their savings target:
Reduce Workforce: Through attrition, NYSCA has reduced its workforce from 55 positions to 48. NYSCA has achieved these reductions without jeopardizing the agency’s core mission. For example, management positions have been restructured and consolidated to improve efficiency.
Reduce Other Spending: NYSCA has achieved savings by reducing employee travel and forgoing the planned purchase of a computer system upgrade.
