  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • The Division of State Police’s (DSP) current-year savings target is $61.1 million. This reflects the Governor’s order for an across the board 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending.
    • DSP is currently expected to achieve $13.7 million of its spending reduction target in 2008-09. In order to ensure public safety and maintain adequate member strength, the agency will be exempted from achieving their full savings target. DSP, however, will continue to work toward implementing additional savings actions to achieve a portion of their remaining target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • The Division of State Police is already in the process of implementing the following major actions to achieve their current year savings target:
    • Reducing planned vehicle acquisitions and deferring lower priority information technology projects; and
    • Controlling overtime spending.
