  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • DHCR’s current-year savings target is $6.92 million, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending.
    • DHCR is currently expected to achieve its entire $6.92 million spending reduction target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • DHCR is already in the process of implementing the following actions to achieve their savings target.
    • Operational efficiencies including: office consolidations; reduced non-personal service spending; automation of various program activities; and, implementing a priority system for housing project site visits ($2.96 million).
    • Personal Service Savings related to attrition and the transfer of staff to non-general fund sources ($1.45 million).
    • Sweep of available revenue to the General Fund including revenue from billing New York City for the full cost of the Rent Administration program ($2.51 million).
