  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • The Department of Civil Service’s current-year savings target is $2.4 million, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending. Civil Service is currently expected to achieve its entire $2.4 million spending reduction target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • Civil Service is already in the process of implementing the following actions to achieve their savings target:
    • Reorganizing to eliminate duplicative functions and improve operations.
    • Closing the Buffalo Outreach Office.
    • Elimination of 24 funded vacant positions.
    • Implementation of Promotion Exam Fee Schedule.
    • Conversion to paperless exam announcements.
    • Reduction in the number of pre-rating review sites.
