  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • The Division of Criminal Justice Services’ (DCJS) current-year savings target is $8.4 million, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending. DCJS is currently expected to achieve its entire $8.4 million spending reduction target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • DCJS is already in the process of implementing the following actions to achieve their savings target, including:
    • Eliminating 11 positions through attrition, generating $1.8 million.
    • Canceling or postponing projects, delaying the replacement of equipment, lowering maintenance costs, and negotiating lower contract pricing for maintenance and software, for an estimated savings of $4.8 million.
    • Reducing equipment purchases, telecommunications usage, conserving energy, limiting training, reducing travel, and curbing the use of bulk mailing, for an estimated savings of $1.8 million.
