  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • The Department of Agriculture and Markets current-year savings target is $5.37 million, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending.
    • The Department is currently expected to achieve its entire $5.37 million spending reduction target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • The Department is implementing the following actions to achieve its savings target:
    • As attrition occurs, only the most critical positions are being filled;
    • Spending for technology acquisitions, office equipment and supplies, conferences, training, and contractual services is restricted to only that which is essential to delivery of its mission; and
    • Advertising of products under the Pride of New York Program has been severely curtailed.
