  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • The APA’s current-year savings target is $589,000, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending.
    • The APA is expected to achieve its entire $589,000 spending reduction target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • The APA is implementing the following actions to achieve their savings target:
    • Management Efficiencies & Personal Service ($559,000) – Reduction of discretionary travel, supplies and materials and delay and elimination of tech equipment purchases. $10,000 reduction in aid to the Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board that advises and assists the APA in carrying out its functions, powers and duties. Personal service savings are generated through the implementation of a strict hiring freeze and the vacant Executive Director position. Management staff are fulfilling the duties of the Executive Director on a temporary basis during FY 08-09.
    • Visitor Interpretative Centers ($30,000) – The Visitor Interpretive Centers, located at Newcomb and Paul Smiths, (previously open 364 days per year) will be scaled down to a five-day week (Tuesday through Saturday) beginning November 1, 2008.
