Major Savings Initiatives
The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control has undertaken the following actions to achieve their savings target:
Halting two technology projects ($800,000).
Stopping all hiring of non-essential employees, discontinue non-essential contract employees, and eliminate employee overtime ($286,000).
Reducing the number of full board meetings and increasing the use of videoconferencing; reducing educational seminars in Long Island, NYC, and the Finger Lakes; and canceling out-of-state travel.
Stopping all non-essential office supply purchases and fee-based employee training.
Discontinuing the agency’s planned Syracuse office redesign.
Increasing information available on the agency website to reduce staff time needed to handle informational requests by phone.
