  1. Spending Reduction Target
    • The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s (ABC) current-year savings target is $1.45 million, reflecting the Governor’s order for a 10.35 percent reduction in projected agency spending. The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control is expected to achieve its entire $1.45 million spending reduction target.
  2. Major Savings Initiatives
    • The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control has undertaken the following actions to achieve their savings target:
    • Halting two technology projects ($800,000).
    • Stopping all hiring of non-essential employees, discontinue non-essential contract employees, and eliminate employee overtime ($286,000).
    • Reducing the number of full board meetings and increasing the use of videoconferencing; reducing educational seminars in Long Island, NYC, and the Finger Lakes; and canceling out-of-state travel.
    • Stopping all non-essential office supply purchases and fee-based employee training.
    • Discontinuing the agency’s planned Syracuse office redesign.
    • Increasing information available on the agency website to reduce staff time needed to handle informational requests by phone.
